Writing a Comic Book Poem – Outside

In Outside we take the perspective of a lonely person that is trying to get attention. It’s about wasted opportunities and trying to cease the moment. Other that using stanzas I decided to make the text flow as one. This was to convey the muddled perspective of the poem. The text is below, but as usual it should be read as a Comic Book Poem with the visuals.

Outside

Do you want to know

How the rain sounds on my window

And the way I sigh

When you ignore my text messages

You’ll have to leap

Outside into a warm glowing place

I hope you know

The way you make me feel on the inside

It wasn’t meant to be

Even all that easy

But you know that struggle

Was wasted on a cold lonely man

And he was gone

When you came home for a familiar hug

There has to be a heaven

For a used antique smile

You should have never given up all that easy

But I suppose that’s how it goes.
